  • (aka) life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness (health, safety, & welfare!)

CommUNITY Mediated Memory Exercise (6d09)

 

• I first asked each person participating to share reflections on the AP photo (above)
  • from the 7-Dec-2006 UDK article (p.8A) about Pearl Harbor survivors ...

 

• Next I told them I was the person amidships if it had been taken during the filming of Tora! Tora! Tora!
  • That prompted another cycle of scanning the AP's photo for unshared "clues" that were suppressed ...

 

• Then I folded the page to leave only the small boat exposed and asked for comments on crew behavior.
  • Were they showing an attitude of conflict & conquest -or- collaboration & cooperation?

 

• We discussed which part of the image initially got their attention.
  • They reported it was the larger ship (BB-48) engulfed in smoke ...

 

• Feedback on Sun-Noon was that those who participated appreciated
  • our efforts at commUNITY-building thru shared story-telling ...
